Southwest Airlines has cancelled 200 flights this morning, in addition to the 1,100+ already cancelled earlier this week. The cancellations are a result of a “system glitch” that has grounded flights all over the country, and displaced many crews, flight teams, and aircraft.
If your travel plans are affected by this glitch, you may find a little relief in Southwest’s remedy: Southwest is permitting most customers with reservations between Wednesday, July 20th and Tuesday, July 26th, to rebook their travel plans in the original class of service within 14 days, at the original ticketed price.
Southwest has been experiencing high call volumes, but it is worth an attempt to give them a call and cross your fingers for a call back. I, myself, have been on hold for over 2 hours.
